MSBA'S SAFE SURFACING PROGRAM
RECEIVES GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL ENDORSEMENT
The Governor's
Council on Physical Fitness and Health recently endorsed the Missouri
Playground Surfacing Program. This
program is a partnership between the Missouri School Boards' Association
(MSBA) and the National Safe Surfacing Initiative, LLC (NSSI) in an effort to
promote physical fitness and health through safe playgrounds for Missouri's
school children.
The Governor's
Council on Physical Fitness and Health is committed to improving the fitness
and health of all Missourians. This
Council reviews and endorses activities which promote physical fitness and health
throughout the state of Missouri.
The Missouri Playground Surfacing Program recognizes that
childhood fitness begins at an early age when young people first start out to
challenge their minds and bodies in ways that require both mental and physical
fortitude. Through this program,
childcare centers and elementary schools are able to provide healthier play
and fitness environments for young children, preparing them for more physical
challenges in the years ahead.
"We are
delighted to be part of this effort to reduce injuries and accidents on
school playgrounds," says MSBA Executive Director Dr. Carter Ward. "The NSSI
is a nationally-recognized company that is committed to improving student
safety. We are very pleased that the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness
and Health has chosen to endorse this important program."
